Dear Friends and Customers of Solo Bistro:
What a difference a week makes! A week ago it was still chilly and damp, and now it is beastly hot and damp – the rueful remarks about “June-uary” suddenly relegated to nostalgic memory.
The heat would seem to have inspired Chef Franklyn’s menu choice for this week’s $19.99 Wednesday Special as it heads south of the border.
Wednesday Special
The Yucatan provides the inspiration for the first stop of this week’s cut-rate culinary journey, a spiced carrot soup using organic carrots from the Tarbox Farm again. The main course will be braised chipotle chicken tostadas with crispy corn tortillas, pico de gallo ,frisée, napa cabbage and house made guacamole & queso fresco cheese. Key lime curd with mint cookie crumbles and whipped cream will do their duty as dessert!
Friday Night Jazz June 16, 2017
Jazz pianist Mickey Felder returns for the second time in the last few weeks, this time with the lovely lounge-singer Lorna Prescott. Definitely a cool Friday to be in the New Space at Solo Bistro in Bath, regardless of the mercury Don’t miss Mickey and Lorna this Friday at Solo Bistro from 6:30 to 9:30 PM.

Dear Friends and Customers of Solo Bistro:
Still cool and damp, as June along the coast of Maine can tend to be, before the Gulf of Maine sucks up sufficient solar energy to set the summer on its balmy course. In the meantime layers lighten slightly, but linger nonetheless, as indeed they likely will all summer long . . .
But sun is on the way for Wednesday, and with it warmer temps, not to mention the three course Wednesday Special!
Wednesday Special
This week the $19.99 Wednesday Special kicks off with spicy greens from the Tarbox Farm on Westport Island, dressed in a fines herbes vinaigrette. The main course will be orecchiette pasta with sautéed shrimp, ham, baby kale and roasted red pepper in an alfredo sauce. For dessert, Chef Franklyn will offer a cream cheese and mascarpone cheese cake with an almond and graham cracker crust and orange caramel.
Friday Night Jazz June 9, 2017
Guitar jazz remains to rule the roost this Friday in the masterful hands of Maine’s own maestro of the jazz guitar, scholar-artist Gary Wittner. Gary has taught in the University of Maine system and at Bowdoin, among other institutions, and is known for his transcription for guitar of the works of jazz pianist Thelonius Monk. One of the best there is in his chosen métier, don’t miss Gary in the New Space at Solo Bistro this Friday night from 6:30 to 9:30 PM.
